Here are some rules to live by when learning in #linuxnewbie...

These guidelines will make your stay more enjoyable,

   * We won't send you to google first.
   * We may give you a search string, but we will help you.
   * We frequently use links with documents for complex instructions.
   * The phrases RTFM and STFW are used very rarely in #linuxnewbie. (Read the Friendly Manual and Search The Friendly Web)

Summary:

   * DO NOT /msg the ops or people with voice without their approval
   * No warez
   * No porn
   * No cussing.
     See below for more literal instructions about the definition of cussing
   * No sexual discussions
   * No proxy/bnc begging
   * No op/voice begging
   * No bots
   * No bot help requests
   * If you are looking for bot help, you are in the wrong channel.

Just incase you didn't figure it out, here are some "no-brainers" for you that will result in a kick/ban:

   * Asking for or offering warez or pornography
   * Sexually explicit comments or dicussion
   * Asking for ops or a proxy/bnc to connect to

The following may result in kick/ban the first time but will definately result in a kick/ban if you do not learn quickly:

   * Asking for voice
   * Asking for help with bots or for a bot

Among others, these words are not acceptable

   * Any word used to refer to a person in a dirogatory manner
   * You will be kicked for fag, nigger, or other such term
     damn	fuck	ass	bastard
   * And anything else an op finds offensive
   * Ops who use language I outlined here will loose ops
   * I have been very literal so there is no doubt
